Maggie Latortue was born and raised in Miami, FL., where she attended Miami Edison Jr and Sr High School. Latortue developed a keen and immediate interest for beauty products in all areas, including hair, make-up, fashion and more. After graduating from high school, Latortue immediately enrolled in Dudley’s Cosmetology school where she would go on to receive her license in cosmetology. After receiving her cosmetology license, she would excel in various other arenas of the entrepreneur umbrella by studying business management at Miami Dade College.
The young business woman is destined for nothing short of long-term success. Drawing inspiration from business moguls such as Shawn ‘Jay-z’ Carter, Oprah Winfrey, and Martha Stewart, to name a few. Martha Stewart was indeed the business tycoon who, a then, young ambitious girl really drew growing inspiration from. Martha Stewart‘s dedication to her “brand” motivated Latortue to forge ahead and start her own business, a one-of-a-kind cosmetics line.
“Martha Stewart is my favorite, she really impressed me. I would walk into Target and say to myself ‘now thats a hard working woman!’” Latortue said. “She really inspired me to make my brand one of the best selling brands in the world.” When Latortue first launched BEPLATINUM five years ago, she admits to only catering to women. Since then, she has expanded her line of products to not only women, but men and children. She believes that true beauty comes from within and that “if you take care of your body, your body will take care of you.” Her future goals include having her BEPLATINUM cosmetics line sold in all major stores all over the world. The now ambitious woman will continue to work meticulously towards her long-term aspirations and goals.
“Ultimately, I want my brand to be that ‘spark of magic’ in a woman‘s life, my goal for my cosmetics line is to provide women with a sense of certainty, self-confidence and poise,” Latortue said.
Although fashion and beauty has opened up several opportunities, the Miami native remains very close to her community. In recent years, she has been noted as a “good balance” for society’s youth, various charity efforts and is labeled as one of the infuential tastemakers within the Miami socialite scene and respected business industry.
The rising mogul has lined her business plans vividly and set to execute them full speed ahead in the near future. The budding business guru is most definitely that mark of distinction; she embodies what every woman aspires to be; confident, self-assured and in control; but most importantly, to BE PLATINUM.
